Caring for Our Patients Is Our Privilege
Dr. Donna Wilcox – Chaplain
When I sat down with hospice and discovered the benefits available for my father and all who qualify, I was overcome with gratitude.
I’m thankful for the team who lovingly cared for my dad and kept me from falling apart. When my father’s journey ended, I decided to pursue hospice as a career. I thank God for directing my path…. After 7 years, hospice has proven to be challenging, yet beautifully rewarding.
I have one last closing thought: hospice is often misunderstood. Although you may have a diagnosis of 6 months or less, no human being knows your expiration date. I’ve had patients who survived over 2 years, giving them the gift of added time with their family. Some have even graduated from hospice due to their health improving. It happens!
The care you receive from our hospice staff is exemplary, and if you qualify, everything pertaining to your diagnosis is covered due to the benefits you have earned throughout your life. Hospice truly is a blessing and one I will be grateful for as long as I live. “
